Uber's response is as good as any cabbie focused on quick bucks rather than bigger scheme of things.

Having been a frequent traveler, I find it annoying that Uber could only come up with these wishy washy suggestions. I believe we need to do much more.

Anyways, I would like add my bits to suggestions that may have been made already. I is also relevant to mention that sometime Delhi does not seem safe even for men:

- Publish list of your drivers only. Name/Address everything. Use crowd-sourcing to get these verified. To keep it sane, have only registered users rate and report on these. Publish, complaints, serious complaints, suspension, firing information.
- When I book through an app or online, please send me complete details of the driver including image, name, ratings, violations etc. Give me an option to accept/reject the driver based on such information.
- In one instance, i realized my driver was drunk. How am I supposed to address this? Shout to the customer care in front of him? Get dropped in the middle of night somewhere on the road?
- When I take a cab from Delhi airport (or when it is not pre-booked), there is no easy way to report the driver or cab info to your acquaintances. Would it be too difficult to keep all this info (Cab as well as Driver) behind the driver's seat along with a QR scanner and send to near and dear - along with live tracking of info through the app on my phone.
- Background info is highly unreliable in this country and all transporters need to work on a parallel system to check this. Please get together and work towards it. At the least, all of you share information on your drivers including the complaints, serious complaints made against each of them.
- On finishing travel, I dont see any of these guys - Uber, Ola, Meru bothering to seriously obtain feedback on the driver. In some cases, the feedback form does not even have a text box to report the story in detail. Make it much more meaningful. eg. Did he follow the speed limit or did he slow down when the GPS based system warned him of the violation, did he jump any signal, did he drive in his lane, etc.

I can never sign a petition merely on the basis of a few points listed by a cab company committing that it would strictly abide by them in spirit. An indefinite ban should be imposed on Uber for their shocking dereliction of responsibilities. They should not be allowed to resume services until the time the legal process is on and the rape victim gets justice.

Besides, where is the guarantee that Uber will abide by its commitment once the ban is lifted? They might well be back to their careless ways soon after and more passengers would feel the heat.

I never signed this petition and I never will. I am all for an indefinite ban on Uber for their shocking dereliction of responsibilities. They should not be allowed to resume services until the time the legal process is on and the rape victim gets justice.
Please don't quote me out of context.
