Matthew Vargas started this petition to Uber

Ubers look like regular cars and are not well-marked. Many people are falling victim to criminals who pretend to be Uber drivers and a big part of the problem is that Uber cars are indistinguishable.

Uber should require that each and every one of their drivers in all locations install an illuminated car top sign on their vehicles (similar to that of a pizza delivery car.)

I started this petition because...
-21-year-old Samantha Josephson took a car that she thought was her Uber driver, and was found dead in the woods after being killed on March 29, 2019.

-On September 2018, Elizabeth Suarez was robbed by a man she believed was her Uber driver. She jumped from the vehicle and sustained several injuries.

-Farris Kaloti posed as a fake Uber driver around the University of South Carolina and held women hostage through 2017. He also assaulted a rider and was later arrested for his crimes.

There are countless other stories similar to the ones listed above. Uber recommends that their riders check to see that the driver matches their picture, that their license plate is the same as what's listed in the app, and that the rider ask the driver who they're picking up. **Uber should bear more responsibility for the safety of their riders. They have added safety features to their app but none to the cars themselves.
