Senators Pryor and Boozman,
Right now in 29 states, there is no state law protecting a gay, lesbian or bisexual person from being fired just because of who they are – and the same is true in 33 states for transgender people. Arkansas is one of those states.
The Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) would provide basic protections against workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. ENDA simply affords to ALL Americans basic employment protection from discrimination based on irrational prejudice.
Although some people apparently do not want to admit it, there ARE LGBT citizens in Arkansas. Last year, Advocate.com ranked Little Rock, AR, as the 11th "gayest" city in the United States. ENDA is about LGBT people everywhere, even in your home state.
We are here, and we vote.
