Lachrymator agent, Mace, Tear gas are all the same chemical weapon used on the American public. From a simple traffic stop to 'riots' American citizens have been subjected to chemical weaponry since October 16th, 1967 in Oakland during 'Stop the Draft Week' the largest Anti-Vietnam war protest.

In August of 1914 the French fired tear gas grenades into trenches where German forces hid and that was the first case of tear gas being used.

Tear gas works by irritating mucous membranes in the eyes, nose, mouth and lungs. It causes crying, sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, pain in the eyes and temporary blindness which 'normally' resolve in thirty minutes. Those with preexisting respiratory conditions such as asthma are particularly at risk. Those who come in contact with tear gas may also suffer chemical burns, allergic contact dermatitis eye injuries including scarring of the cornea resulting in loss of visual acuity. There is a risk of permanent injury or death when tear gas is used. This includes risk from being hit by tear gas cartridges, loss of eyesight or skull fracture resulting in death. Women have suffered miscarriages and stillbirths. In 2013, 37 people died of asphyxiation when a tear gas canister was fired in to the vehicle that was transporting them.

The Geneva convention considers tear gas to be a chemical warfare agent and banned it for use in warfare yet it is still used against American citizens.

It has been shown on a National level that some police officers will use tear gas non discriminately towards peaceful protestors and due to that I believe it is in the Nation's best interest to no longer use chemical warfare against it's citizens.

As a country that promotes freedom I believe it is in our best interest to lead by example and show the world that abusing your people will only lead to unrest. As Americans we deserve to be treated as such and not treated as terrorists.
