Uighur Muslims are facing ethnic cleansing in their home region Xinjiang China. They have been placed in “re-education camps”, which have been operational since 2017. The Chinese government calls these Vocational Education and Training Centers. However, in reality, they are sent to be abused, tortured, and sometimes killed in an attempt to erase their religious identity.

Reports have shown that an estimated 3 MILLION Uighur Muslims have been sent to these camps; a 2019 estimate showed that there was currently 1.5 MILLION Uighurs held there at the time, plus an additional 497,000 MINORS in special boarding schools. In 2019, countries including the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Australia, Germany, and Canada signed a letter condemning the Chinese government for their actions. Unfortunately, many Muslim majority countries in the middle east and south Asia, including Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, UAE, Russia, Nigeria, and Egypt SUPPORT China’s brutal policies claiming them as “anti-terrorism” and “anti-extremism measures” that are being rightfully carried out.

The Chinese government is forcing the Uighur Muslims to drink alcohol, eat pork, force women to marry Han men, and force them to do things that are considered unlawful in their religion. If the Uighurs refuse or disobey orders, they get punished by being drowned, handcuffed, and strapped in metal contraception called “tiger chair.”In order to stop these inhumane acts, we need the United States and other UN countries to open their eyes to these brutal acts and end the continuation of the ETHNIC CLEANSING of Uighur Muslims and hold the Chinese government accountable for their actions.
