People around the country go to parks and playgrounds to spend time with their families enjoying the beauty of nature. Unfortunately in nature, there are cigarette butts everywhere.  When I am outside playing, I get so upset by all of the cigarette butts littering the ground.  I worry that a little kid playing will pick one up.  While it is illegal to litter these butts, people do not seem to be following the law. I believe that people should throw out their cigarette butts and have larger fines/penalties if they do not. 

My first reason is that when people litter their cigarette butts animals can eat them and get sick and DIE!!!! Cigarette butts have bad chemicals in them. These chemicals harm animals' bodies when they eat cigarette butts that are left on the ground.  

My second reason is that cigarette butts can cause fires.  When people don’t blow out all of the smoke in the cigarette butt and throw it on the ground it can cause HUGE wildfires. These fires can kill tons of animals and trees in the forest from one cigarette butt!!!!!

As you can see, throwing cigarette butts on the ground is very bad for the earth. In the United States, can you do something to better enforce the law regrading littering cigarette butts?  We also need to teach people about the dangers of littering cigarette butts. If more people knew about how dangerous it is, maybe they wouldn’t do it.
