I’m a young disabled person who has come to rely on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to live a normal life. The ADA has protected people like me and helped ensure access to schools and businesses serving the public for almost 28 years.

Unfortunately, the House of Representatives recently voted to gut the ADA, turning people like me into second-class citizens, once again. With your support, we can make the Senate never passes this law to ensure we remain protected and equal.

If the U.S. Senate also votes to undercut the ADA,, the burden of ensuring businesses comply with the ADA will fall on people like me. Wheelchair users will have to fight for ramps they need. We could be turned away and have to argue and fight for our right to be in these spaces.

My only wish to be accommodated just like my able-bodied friends. People like me shouldn’t have to have submit written complaints every time a store refuses to allow us access. We shouldn’t have to give organizations an additional 120 days to fix the issues that they were legally required to solve almost 30 years ago.

Gutting the ADA would only make the lives of disabled Americans even harder than they already are. It would tell us that we don’t have the right to be treated as our able-bodied brothers and sisters are treated. It’s just plain wrong.

Please help keep disabled Americans equal and protected under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Sign this petition telling Congress to keep their hands off our ADA!
