Bill HB 728 is essentially a bill against anonymity when filing a church vs state lawsuit in Missouri. Hardy Billington (District 152) in the Missouri House of Representatives wants to pass a bill where the name of the real party involved in the separation of church and state is required. This bill violates rules and people’s security when proceeding to take legal action about making sure the line of separation of church and state is clear. There is an amendment this bill that would be violating the Constitution Establishment Clause that “prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another.” which there is proof that Hardy Billington is doing exactly this. Billington said he will be using his time in office to stand up for “Christian Values. This bill violates not only the Establishment Clause but also it will strip protective power away from judges. For example, if a judge knew that a plaintiff would be in physical danger if their identity were revealed, they can choose not to make it public record. This bill would make it so judges can’t make that choice, so the plaintiff in church and state separation lawsuits will be exposed to harassment, death threats, and physical danger.
