In recent years, we've seen an influx of criminal activity and murders on social media via cell phone recordings. Most recently, the world witnessed the brutal, horrific murder of a young child, Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz, out of Bronx New York, captured on surveillance and cell phone video. Not only do we see video of Junior's tragic murder, unfortunate viewers also saw several other videos of his attempt at saving his own life, and bleeding out while crowds stood by, walked by, and/or recorded. THIS MUST STOP! We have become so desensitized that many people are shown in each video, standing by making no attempts to help or call for help and recording on their cell phones. Please pass a Good Samaritan law against standing by passively in situations such as these, and a criminal law against passively recording murders, assaults, battery and such physical attacks. These laws will help to encourage people to take action instead of treating situations as an opportunity to make viral videos. These laws would help to save lives; who knows if Junior or others like him could have been saved if people would have just intervened or put down their phones to try medical assistance. These laws would help spare families pain in seeing the way their loved one's life was a mere spectacle to those who stood around watched and/or recorded. These laws would bring us back to a humane society. Please sign the petition to support these changes.
