Reynolds High School - Demanding Safer Gun Laws

Since the Columbine High School Massacre, there have been 20 mass shootings with a death toll of 8 or higher. As each year goes by, these massacres have become increasingly common yet our voters and elected officials continue to turn a blind eye. How many more Americans have to be murdered at schools, churches, movie theaters, concerts, malls, or nightclubs until real action is taken and sensible legislation is passed at a federal level?
There have been over 200 school shooting incidents since 2013. Our own community has been greatly impacted by gun violence at school.
It is blatantly clear that changes need to be made - our lives depend on it.
No child, teenager, or teacher should fear going to school. No parent should have to wonder if today might be the day they send their kid to school and never see them again.
Adults have failed us, and as students, most of us can't vote. But we can make our voices heard. We are the future and we can make a difference.
On Friday, April 20th, the 19th anniversary of Columbine, we walk out at Reynolds High School. With the support of students and staff, we will be a part of a mobilized effort across the nation demanding safe, responsible gun laws. Join the National High School student walk-out at 10am. Walk out of school, wear orange and protest online and in your communities. Sign the petition if you pledge to do so.
Our goal is to put pressure on voters and our government to help pass gun legislation that will make schools and society safer. We will no longer accept "thoughts and prayers" with no action. We refuse to accept that it is "too soon to talk about gun control." In fact, the conversation is long overdue.
