March for the Defense of Our Lives

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

In the tragic wake of the seventeen lives brutally cut short in Florida, politicians are telling us that now is not the time to talk about guns. We wholeheartedly agree. March for the Defense of Our Lives believes we should always have the right "to bear arms." Created by, inspired by, and led by students and adults alike across the country, we wish to protect the amazing right which grants us the right to defend ourselves against those threatening, and hope to expand that right to teachers, instructors, monitors, etc., who so desperately need and deserve the right to defend their students and schools from the devastating mass shootings.

Yes, before you ask, this in direct retaliation of the March for Our Lives Movement which, ironically, is marching for the termination of the right to defend ourselves.

We are well aware of the fact that the March for Our Lives does not wish to take away all firearms, but only and I quote "sale of assault weapons" and " the sale of high-capacity magazines." The term assault weapon from federal and state law definitions refers primarily to semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns that are able to accept detachable magazines. Nearly all firearms that are used for self defense or hunting, are included in this "assault weapon" definition.

They wish to ban the same type of guns that were used to kill the gunmen at the mass shootings like the Sutherland Springs Church Shooting in November of 2017, like the 2007 Colorado Springs Church shooting, or last April in Chicago's Logan Square, or the September Tennessee Church shooting. There are 13,000 gun homicides every year. But there anywhere from 200,000 to 3 million lives saved by firearms every year in the US according to the FBI statistics.

A ban won't terminate all assault weapons either, it will just make sure that the law abiding-citizens do not possess them. But what about those who aren't law abiding citizens? The law won't even affect those who we are trying to take the guns away from.

What do we propose?

1) That legislation is not passed to infringe on our rights, which we have possessed for for centuries.

2) Plans to enhance school security and the permission for teachers to possess conceal and carry, after passing appropriate screening and background checks.
