Limit Presidential Campaigns Spending And Time frame
It is May of 2019 and the 2020 presidential candidates have already started to campaign. Presidential candidates spend too much money on presidential campaigns. In 2016 Hillary Clinton spent $565 million dollars on her campaign, while Trump spent $322 million on his. We are proposing that Presidential elections start six months before the actual voting occurs, and that the presidential campaigns can only spend a maximum of $10 million dollars. This would make campaigns much more even and fair, while lowering the extreme amount of money that is spent on campaigns. If a candidate cannot prove why they are the best person for the job within a set budget and limited time frame, then they are not someone who can effectively be a leader of the Executive branch. A person should not spend more money to GET the job than their job will be paying them.
