Why this petition matters

The Uighur Muslims are a group of people in Xianjiang, China. They are being put in detention camps and forced to be immersed into society, obliterating their culture and their humanity. The Chinese government is making them do things against their religion, things such as drinking alcohol and eating pork. They are making them erase their culture and their uniqueness to become "normal". There are over one million Uighur Muslims in these camps.  This is a huge human rights violation, and no one is doing anything about it. Countries such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia can't disagree with China for fear of them cutting off their trading and tariffs. If this were to happen, these countries' economies would fall. 22 countries told China that this was wrong, but China got 37 countries that need China's economic help to support them. China has 37 countries in economical hold. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Uyghur Human Rights Act 407 votes to 1. The Uighur Human Rights Act calls for sanctions against senior Chinese officials. However, the U.S. Senate has not approved this Act. We need to change this. The U.S. can help over one million people, but they are not doing anything. The only way we can get them to approve the act is by getting 5,000 signatures! WE are the saviors to the Uighurs!
