On Oct 30th 2020, President Donald J. Trump proclaimed Nov. 1st as a National Day of Remembrance for Americans Killed by Illegal Aliens. There is no apparent regard on his behalf for the lives violently taken by Domestic Terrorists. Those lives lost do not matter to him because they do not help spread his xenophobic messaging. President Trump focuses only on these specific deaths in order to create hatred towards immigrants not out of a sincere concern for the lives of Americans. The lives of every man, woman, and child taken by violent home grown extremists are just as worthy of remembrance. Those lives were taken in larger numbers not by illegal aliens, but by home grown domestic terrorists. America has been plagued by mass shootings and it is very telling when the President decides to target "illegal aliens" while ignoring domestic murderers. It is reported by the Gun Violence Archive that  "by the end of 2019, there were 417 mass shootings in the U.S " Surpassing the previous record of 382 in 2016. GVA tracks every mass shooting in the country and has been doing so since 2014. Thirty-one of those 417 mass shootings were mass murders. Mass murders are defined as shootings where more than 4 people are killed excluding the shooter. Those lives deserve to be remembered. Mass shootings have targeted people for their religion, their sex or sexual preferences, the color of their skin. They have targeted children in schools and journalists at work. They have left families in pain and have traumatized survivors. This petition therefore calls for Nov. 2nd to be declared as a day in which we remember All Americans Killed by Domestic Terrorists. Please sign and share in order to garner support.
