Ryan Ginard started this petition to U.S. Senate and

Racial discrimination and residential segregation extend deep into the history of the United States. Slavery and segregation policies across all tiers of government (such as redlining) have had generational effects on poverty, education, and opportunity for black Americans.

The legacy of these housing policies are not accidental and the ramifications continue to persist with wealth gaps continuing to grow to record highs between white & black Americans. The dream of home ownership is out of reach for so many despite concerted efforts to change this, such as the 1968 Fair Housing Act, the 1974 Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the 1997 Community Reinvestment Act.

Therefore we request of Congress, the establishment of Government secured, zero down, zero interest home loans for black Americans so that these injustices can be corrected, and that those whose families have been affected by these policies can begin to heal, grow and be in a place where the feel socially and economically protected, respected and connected, catalyzing new generational wealth and social mobility for a current and historically disenfranchised pillar of our communities.
