The requirements to be able to hold the office of President have proven to be inadequate or insufficient a few times in US history.

Recently, as a nation we have observe our Executive branch conduct itself in a worrisome manner and a great part of the citizenry has raised questions regarding the state of mental health of the President.  Whether it is an actual fact or an alternative one, the US is ill served by the state of instability that these questions create, both in the homeland and abroad.  This instability is unnecessary, preventable and politically exploitable.

It is time we add a safeguard to the Constitution to require the Candidates to President to submit to a mental health evaluation/assessment in order to be able to qualify for such an important position.

We the People of the United Sates, hereby petition the Legislative Branch to introduce a bill with the purpose of Amending Article II, Section 1, Fifth Paragraph of the United States Constitution to include the following language:

"...

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, been fourteen years a resident within the United States, and has satisfactorily demonstrated to each of the branches of government, to be in a state of mental wellness through assessments to that effect performed by a mental health physician appointed by each branch of the government.
