The labor shortage has been cited as the number one threat to the construction industry and it is no secret that we are feeling the pain. A Deloitte study found that the skills gap may leave an estimated 2.4 million positions unfilled between 2018 and 2028, with a potential economic impact of $2.5 trillion.

The Apprenticeship and Jobs Training Act of 2019 (H.R. 3368) would allow employers a business-related tax credit of up to $5,000 for the training of a qualified apprentice in a qualified apprenticeship program or multi-employer apprenticeship program. This legislation is bipartisan and benefits employers, trade organizations (union and merit shop alike), state and public workforce systems, community-based organizations, and economic development organizations across the country.  By Creating this incentive for businesses and workers to embrace apprenticeship programs it encourages better paying jobs while addressing our nations current shortage of skilled workers.
