The U.S. president sanctioned (Russia) for interference with a U.S. election. The CIA concluded that Russia interfered with the U.S. presidental election, helping Donald Trump and thwarting Hillary Clinton. The FBI backs CIA findings that Russia tried to help Trump win election. Regardless of your political affiliation, the U.S. Constituion Article III section 3 and our laws prohibit such tampering. Harsh penalties, including disallowing any person caught committing treason cannot hold any U.S. office. There are enough grounds to warrant a full investigation, including holding any respective nominee in escrow from office UNTIL that investigation is complete.
President Barack Obama has imposed sanctions on Russian officials and intelligence services in retaliation for Russia's interference in the U.S. presidential election by hacking American political sites and email accounts. Updated: Dec 29, 2016 3:06 PM EST
FBI backs CIA findings that Russia tried to help Trump win election

FBI Director James Comey now concurs in a CIA assessment that Russian hackers meddled in the U.S. presidential election to sway the race toward President-elect Donald Trump, a U.S. official confirmed to POLITICO.
Intel report: Putin directly ordered effort to influence election.
The intelligence community’s allegation that Russia intervened covertly in the 2016 election describes a significant assault on our democracy. The country needs to know more: The charge needs to be followed up with an independent investigation that continues after Donald Trump becomes president on Jan. 20.
Congress should commit now to such a bipartisan inquiry. If there’s a possibility that U.S. laws were violated by the Russian political attack, the FBI and the Justice Department should begin a formal legal investigation. The Justice probe could be led by an independent counsel or an experienced U.S. attorney.
Donald Trump suggested that intelligence officials postponed an " 'intelligence' briefing on so-called 'Russian hacking' " that they were set to deliver to him this week because they might need more time "to build a case." He called the alleged delay "very strange." US admin '100% certain' about Russia election hacking. Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday, "Julian Assange said 'a 14 year old could have hacked Podesta' - why was DNC so careless? Also said Russians did not give him the info!" Mr. Trump has an enormous amount to lose, including his life, if he is found guilty of Russian collusion of election tampering, an election that he was awarded (huge motive). If anything, Donald Trump's adamant denial of tampering , while lambasting US intelligence and dissing any investigation merit, is very strange. Is it not starnge that Mr. Trump acts like he is the final decider of the matter ? Which he is not.
This investigation must commence prior to the respective relevant January 20, 2017 inauguration day. U.S. citizens deserve to have full trust in the election process. Donald Trump, as a suspect and president elect, has no authority to dismiss such a cause. Donald Trump is a huge advocate of law and order. Let law and order take its full course immediately.
One must ask, who would have a motive for international tampering with a respective election? The motive is huge. For if U.S. federal criminal law of treason is found, let the penalty be in full, including death. For treason conviction requires that person(s) shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
U.S. Federal Law 18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason
Current through Pub. L. 114-38. (See Public Laws for the current Congress.)
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
