RAUL GOMEZ, an Oxnard-based resident widely recognized as a community leader in the Mixteco community, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Tuesday, August 29th, as he was leaving his home for work.

MICOP, CAUSE, Future Leaders of America (FLA), the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California (ACLU), the Suburban Women Advocacy Network (SWAN), Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ), John and Jackie Treuting, coordinators for Loaves and Fishes and Fr. Jim Stehly, pastor St. Jude's Catholic Church strongly believe that this is either a case of mistaken identity or a specific targeting of Raul Gomez as an indigenous community leader. His detention represents a gross violation of his and the indigenous community's human rights. As organizations and individuals serving Ventura County’s immigrant communities, we collectively demand the immediate release of Mr. Gomez, a cessation of his removal orders and for all charges to be dropped.

WE DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF RAUL!
