This petition made change with 28 supporters!
The Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 is currently being reviewed in the 114th Congressional Legislation of the United States. This bill includes prevention and education efforts against substance abuse. It will start evidence-based heroin and opiate treatment and expand resources to individuals suffering from addiction problems while incarcerated. Many of these people are dealing with mental illnesses in addition to substance abuse, so treatment is vital. Also, it will give law enforcement officers access to Naloxone which is a medication used to treat individuals suffering from an overdose. Giving first responders this life-saving drug can save valuable time for someone who is fighting for his or her life. Vote "Yes" on the Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 to facilitate the help that these individuals so desperately need.
