We feel the statute of limitation running out for victims of rape should be abolished. Many women, children, and even men and young boys have suffered from sexual assault and statistics show that many people do not tell sometimes for years. We do not feel the perpetrators of rape and violent crimes should be exempt because victims were or are too scared, frightened, or dismayed to tell. In light of the heightened "me too" movement and the numerous organizations and people who have been exposed for committing crimes against children, both male and female, and women etc., only now is the crime of rape getting the long-overdue attention that it deserved. As of yet, many people are still not receiving the vindication that they deserve. Society is doing a much better job at recognizing and calling out this crime and finally giving credence to the criminality of the behavior but yet there is still more work to do. Until people as a whole start to feel that the violations and injustices they have suffered have been acknowledged, addressed, and effectively dealt with we cannot rest. We owe it to our sons and daughters,  mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles, our community at large, and to ourselves to do just that; acknowledge, address, and deal with sexual assault and molestation. This bill will address directly the many who have gotten away with rape for years, if not decades. AND because their victims were afraid or for whatever reason did not tell the statute of limitations allows them to Go free. This practice must stop anyone and everyone who commits this type of crime or has committed this type of crime needs to answer for it.
