Why this petition matters

Did you know that there are 14 people currently in office who have held that office in the House of Representatives or Senate uninterrupted for over 37 years, the highest being almost 49 years? There are currently no limits to how many terms someone can serve in the Legislative Branch of the United States, and I think this holds a great risk.

The First Secretary of North Korea also doesn't have any term limits which is the official title Kim Jong-Un holds in North Korea, and he has technically been elected into that position every election since 2011. The point I am bringing up is since there are no current term limits for congress this creates a risk of corruption. Why would someone possibly want to hold one of those offices for 36 years, and more importantly how much work do you think they are getting done? Regardless of political party I believe nobody should hold an office that long.

That is why I am petitioning for there to be a 28th amendment of the United States Constitution limiting all members of the House of Representatives to three terms each lasting two years, and two terms for all members of the Senate with each lasting six years. I believe this will lower the risk of a corrupt government body, prevent career politicians, and give the people a little more faith in those running the country.
