Good News For SIV Applicants Stuck in Processing!

Thank you so much for signing our petition telling Congress to bring our Afghan allies to safety! We are delighted to inform you that much has happened since we launched the petition.

On February 5, a federal judge in our lawsuit challenging the delays in the SIV program ruled that the government had to propose a plan to expeditiously process all Special Immigrant Visa applications that have been pending in the government’s control for more than nine months. The parties submitted a joint adjudication plan in May, and on June 15, the Court approved the plan and ordered that the government submit its first progress report on September 25, 2020. This litigation victory stands to benefit nearly 10,000 American allies from Afghanistan and Iraq by quickly providing them with a safe home in the United States.

While this is fantastic news, we still need your help to hold the government accountable for sticking to its own plan, and to urge Congress to extend the visas and validity of medical and security checks of those whose departure to the U.S. was delayed by COVID-19. Please share this petition with anyone you know who cares about the fate of these trusted allies.

Thank you for your support,
