Stop the fight against our body clock -Support return to standard time for good

Switching the times between daylight savings and standard time twice a year has a negative affect on our health, disrupting sleep cycles. Many adults already suffer from sleep deprivation and the time change, disrupting our circadian rhythms can make this worse. Disruptions to the body clock have been linked with obesity, depression, diabetes, heart problems and other conditions. Levels of stress hormones that boost heart rate and blood pressure, and chemicals that trigger inflammation can increase. Vulnerable people may be more susceptible to heart attacks. Studies have linked the start of daylight savings time to a brief spike in car accidents. The time change was started about a 100 years ago to save energy but modern research has found little or no cost savings. Federal law allows states to remain on standard time year-round but only Hawaii and most of Arizona have chosen to. Having the country switch to switch to year-round daylight saving time, would require congressional approval. Let's protect our circadian rhythms and encourage our legislators to pass a bill stopping this switching back and forth.
