Reach out to convince local govt. to enforce shark conservation laws to decrease hunting

This petition had 709 supporters

Shark populations are decreasing due to lack of enforcement of the Shark Conservation Act and the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. They ban shark finning, but have no limitations or procedures for over-hunting. The over-hunting of sharks is rapidly decreasing many populations of sharks. Sharks are a very important part of our ecosystem and help to keep our seas' food chain balanced. Humans even benefit from sharks! We use them to study their lives to see how we can better improve ours. If shark hunting was limited, we could greatly improve shark populations to keep them thriving and living in our magnificent oceans.
