Provide tax exemption for all permanent and total disabled veterans

A federal law exempting permanent and total disabled veterans from property taxes would greatly improve their lives. They live on their VA benefits and property taxes take a great toll on their expenses. The law should also provide a clause that there be no minimum time in a combat zone requirement as there is in New Jersey. This requirement discriminates against veterans who served during a time of conflict, but not a required number of days in a specific zone. In New Jersey veterans of WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam are not required to have a certain number of days in a combat zone. Even veterans of these conflicts who did not go into a combat zone or overseas and were permanently injured do not need a minimum requirement. Veterans who served during Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and many other smaller conflicts must meet the requirement. A federal law would make it fair and equal for all veterans who become permanent and totally disabled serving their country, no matter when or where they served, to have full tax exemption.
