Our goal is to raise awareness to copyright reform in the digital age

Songwriters, artists and musicians across the country are uniting to raise awareness to the outdated sections of The Copyright Act.
Together we are calling upon all members of congress to support this petition in an effort to bring about awareness with the goal of introducing legislation that protects music creators and brings technology and copyright law into harmony as we progress into the digital age.
Several past bills have been introduced, but never passed the house floor. This includes H.R.1733 and H.R.1283 also known as The Fair Play Fair Pay Act and The Songwriters Equity Act respectively.
In accordance with The Library of Congress there is also much needed public study to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the DMCA safe harbor provisions contained in 17 U.S.C. 512. These provisions allow companies “safe harbor” from copyright infringement liability for the actions of their users, as long as they respond to take-down notices from rights owners.
Comments and suggestions from the public shall be taken into consideration to determine and apply a market-based standard for setting rates under Section 114 of the Copyright Act which “would have been negotiated in the marketplace between a willing buyer and a willing seller.”

17 U.S. Code § 801
(A) To maximize the availability of creative works to the public.
(B) To afford the copyright owner a fair return for his or her creative work and the copyright user a fair income under existing economic conditions.
(C) To reflect the relative roles of the copyright owner and the copyright user in the product made available to the public with respect to relative creative contribution, technological contribution, capital investment, cost, risk, and contribution to the opening of new markets for creative expression and media for their communication.
(D) To minimize any disruptive impact on the structure of the industries involved and on generally prevailing industry practices.
