Janet Orlin started this petition to U.S. House of Representatives and

Senior government leaders should be held to the highest ethical standards of conduct - especially the President.

We -- U.S. citizens -- petition the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to pass legislation that forbids a President of the United States who has been convicted of a felony or treason during or after the time of their service as President, of receiving a state-sponsored funeral upon their death. The same or additional legislation should also forbid the government from holding a national day of mourning, flying of the U.S. flag at half-staff, or other similar symbolic actions of respect and honor for any President so convicted. These bans should remain even if the President subsequently receives a Presidential pardon.

Felonious or treasonous activity are clearly conduct unbecoming of a United States President and far below an acceptable standard for our country. Such activity dishonors the office of U.S. President, degrades our respect in the international community, and corrodes our national character.  Such dishonor overrides the honor of a state funeral afforded to former Presidents.
