I believe this holiday would bring attention to a much neglected part of our American heritage. We need to have more occasions to represent those that are under represented. A small move in making our culture more aware and hopefully more respectful. Most African Americans have ancestors that have been in this country for over 200 years now. while many of us, are just recent immigrants. It is a good move.
