Give Active Duty Military the same Gun Rights as Off-Duty Police Officers

The Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act of 2004 (LEOSA) gives active and retired police officers who meet the requirements of The Act the right to carry a concealed firearm for personal protection in all 50 states, subject to some restrictions. These men and women are in a unique situation that requires them to have the ability to protect themselves and others. Military members, by virtue of their service to our country, are forced to move regularly, making it extremely difficult to obtain and use a state concealed carry permit. They face a similar threat of violence from terrorists, sympathizers, disgruntled former servicemembers with whom they've had close contact, and a host of other hostile entities. Both Police and Military have a system in place to verify proficiency with weapons, and those Military members who are armed-sentry qualified have received training on use-of-force, weapons handling, and most importantly, the de-escalation of violence. Military Members cannot hide in plain sight. They are required to meet physical fitness standards, maintain grooming standards, and dress in proper civilian attire. All these things make them targets.
It is imperative that we amend Title 18 USC §926 to allow our QUALIFIED servicemembers to exercise the right to carry a firearm nationally, as they are required to go wherever their Service sends them. Allowing servicemembers to carry for self defense does not violate Posse Comitatus, and any act pursuant to this end shall not construe the right of any servicemember to enforce civilian law.
The men and women of our Armed Forces have taken an oath to fight and, if necessary, die for your freedom. They've vowed to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL enemies, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC. It's time to give these amazing men and women the safety they deserve from the threats that are more than real to every one of them.
My final thought for those who are on the fence: If Americans didn't want more good guys in public with firearms, what was the point of the original LEOSA?
