Expel Greg Gianforte from the House of Representatives

Article I, Section 5 of the United States Constitution states that "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member." Given that there is no recall mechanism described in the U.S. Constitution for unsuitable members, this is the only mechanism by which the people, through our elected representatives, may remove unsuitable members of Congress from their seats.
On Wednesday, May 24, 2017, the evening before the special election to determine the occupant of the vacant seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for the State of Montana, Greg Gianforte, the then-nominee for the Republican Party, brutally assaulted Ben Jacobs, a reporter for The Guardian, by grabbing him by the neck with both hands and slamming him onto the ground behind him, breaking his glasses and proceeding to punch him after he was slammed down.
The audio-tape that documented the incident, and the corroboration of eye witnesses from the Fox News team, indicate that Mr. Jacobs was not being aggressive in any way, and that he was simply asking him a question about his reaction to the Congressional Budget Office's assessment of the American Healthcare Act.
Such violent behavior is not only completely reprehensible, and anybody who engages in such behavior has absolutely no business represented the People of the United States in our legislature, but given the fact that the current President of the United States maintains a consistently hostile relationship with the press, frequently referring to them as the 'dishonest media' over Twitter and in his speeches, it is especially important that our elected officials reaffirm the time-honored, hallowed, Constitutionally-protected, and indispensable to ordered liberty freedom of the press.
We are calling on the House Ethics Committee to initiate the expulsion process by introducing a resolution to expel Greg Gianforte as soon as he takes his seat in the House. While it is regrettable that Mr. Gianforte was elected in spite of this brutality, his choices and his judgment will affect every single individual existing on this planet, given the broad influence of the United States in world affairs. An individual who has so little respect for the freedom of the press enshrined in our Constitution that he would violently assault a reporter to avoid a difficult question cannot be trusted to defend our Constitution, and should not be trusted to lend his voice in national decision making. Congress must expel him immediately.
