Hello. We're a small group of 8th grade students from the Bay Area. We may be young but we realize there is a lot of ignorance surrounding the LGBTQIA community. Considering in the younger generations 16% or 1/6 of people identify as LGBTQIA, we think a change to the education system needs to be made in order to eliminate the fear and discrimination this steadily growing community faces. To do this, we are starting a petition to take to our state government along with a GoFundMe as a separate project to raise money to donate to the Trevor Project, a program for LGBTQIA youth that:
  - Provides crisis services free of charge and 24/7 — including TrevorLifeline, TrevorText, and TrevorChat
  - Expand digital crisis services to reach more young people
  - Enable policymakers to pass legislation protecting young LGBTQ people

With our petition we are hoping, if nothing else, to continue to spread our message about the power of education, how much LGBTQIA people are struggling, and how we can help. We are hoping, with your support, we can make a difference in our community. Let's get this petition to the government. Thank you.
