COVID-19 Financial Aid for single owner/operator small businesses

0 have signed. Let’s get to 50,000!

I am one of many of the millions of Americans who fear for my financial future because of this coronavirus crisis. With businesses and schools closing across the country to control the spread of this virus, many people have already lost their jobs. Others are being forced to stay home.

This is catastrophic for working families like mine.

I’m calling on Congress to support single owner/operator small businesses or those with less than 2 employees with a minimum of $2,000 payment for these small businesses immediately, and continuing regular checks for the duration of the crisis. These small businesses are unable to qualify for any type of financial aid or relief because they have less than 2 employees. Otherwise, these small businesses will not be able to get financial aid and will struggle to keep their businesses alive. These businesses are not only their means of income and livelihood, but their American Dream.

I own a small business in Florida and these past two weeks have been hectic to say the least. I worked in my industry for over 13 years before starting my own business just about 7 and a half years ago. I am a one man show and wear many hats, so to say. Since starting my business I have persevered through many challenges both business wise and personal. But like like many Americans, never saw this coming. If I am unable to work then my business will suffer immensely and potentially end. If I am still able to work I still face the struggle of my customers being able to pay me or worse, continue with my service. I have already seen, within the last few weeks, a substantial decline in payments for my service. The facts are, even successful small businesses can’t go long with their doors closed.

Supplying small businesses like mine with support until they can get back on their feet can help save these small businesses, the backbone of America, from financial ruin as businesses and individuals.

We need immediate checks and recurring relief so that we can keep our heads above water and make it through this crisis.  Congress needs to make sure that we won’t be left financially ruined for something out of our control and doing our part to keep the country healthy.

Congress should also consider a hold on lease payments, insurance payments, utility payments, and business payments (such as licensing, etc.) until we can get through this and get back on our feet.
