The legal drinking age in numerous countries across the world is 18. Why should 18-20 year olds be able to serve in the military, vote, get married, work full-time, but not be able to drink alcohol? Alcohol can be a good stress reliever and reducing the age would eliminate the need for fake ID's in college, as well as off campus parties where most alcohol related injuries occur. In addition to changing this law, I believe the education in high schools on alcohol consumption also needs to be improved. Educating high school students about alcohol use would decrease the amount of alcohol related road accidents and would also reduce the amount of alcohol related injuries. Teenagers typically don't know the healthy amount of alcohol to consume and this results in higher amounts of binge drinking among college students. To add on, changing this law would also boost the economy. The government would collect a greater amount of tax revenue, and it would benefit small businesses.
