Colton Prpich started this petition to U.S. House of Representatives and

TEAR GAS IS NOT OK. Tear gas is a means of dispersing crowds and TORTURING UNITED STATES CITIZENS FOR NO REASON. As a people we have a right to protest and do what we feel we need to do in order to PURSUE OUR 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHTS (as long as it’s legal of course). Yes some people may be violent and cause trouble but the vast majority of all protestors are completely innocent. I have had friends shot by rubber bullets, marched to an area in which they were trapped and tear gassed, as seen here, and were all around bullied by those who are supposed to protect us. THESE WERE INNOCENT PEOPLE EXERCISING THEIR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS . Tear gas does not spread peace IT SPREADS HATE. When someone gets tear gassed they do not see the wrongs in their ways. They see a new enemy and get angry. The initial human response to violence is more violence and in order to get passed this someone has to see the wrong in their ways and CHANGE. I beg of you to rethink the ways of the past. CHANGE NEEDS TO BE MADE THIS IS A CHEMICAL WEAPON BEING USED ON OUR OWN CITIZENS. The values of America are that all the power is to the people and as an American citizen I FEEL POWERLESS. Completely powerless to the wrong doings and harsh methods of the police. I know that protestors may be doing things that are not ok BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO ABUSE ALL OF THE ONES DOING WHAT THEY’RE TAUGHT IS TO BRING ABOUT CHANGE. As a citizen right now I am too scared to go out and protest and that is the exact opposite of why America was founded. Tear gas is not ok and is banned in warfare, yes banned against the people who are trained to go out and put their life’s on the line. SHOULD I HAVE TO PUT MY LIFE ON THE LINE TO GO OUT AND EXERCISE MY 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHTS??????
