Health care in the United States is among the most expensive of first world countries and most citizens rely on private health insurance. This has resulted in high rates of uninsured individuals and is the cause of many untreated health problems in the United States. Health insurance was created to help families and individuals to not get placed in the financial debt that occurs when they are unable to afford the expenses that come from serious illness or injury. The demand for health care has increased because life expectancy has increased. Because of this, health care/coverage has become more expensive. Meaning co-pays and deductibles prices are rising. Many health care providers could deny you if you have existing illnesses and if the health care provider does approve you, the amount of money that you could pay could still make health insurance unattainable.Even with the introduction of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, many people still struggle to afford health insurance premiums, and even then, things like copays, deductibles and prescriptions are not included in that cost. An organization that has supported health care from the beginning is the National Health Council, which is a non-partisan and nonprofit organization with its members being other health organizations like the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association, among many others. There are several bills that have been created since the introduction of the ACA to help curb the cost of health insurance. This social media campaign would act not only as an infographic for the true costs of healthcare in the United States but also as a way for the average citizen to get involved in advocating for the right to affordable healthcare
