Problem: We quickly need many more hospital beds.
Solution: every town in this country has abandoned WalMarts, K-Marts, and other empty former big box stores that could quickly be converted into temporary hospital rooms. Pop up some drywall or curtains to create privacy, run in electrical lines and plumbing and you're 90% there. After the pandemic is over, they can be used as homeless shelters and community spaces during hurricanes and other natural disasters.
Every single town has hundreds of thousands of empty square feet going unused.
