A National Jobs Program would guarantee everyone who wants to work, a job at a living wage. Contrary to the NeoLiberal and Conservative lies told everyday by politicians and 'experts' on television there is NO reason that the U.S. Government cannot provide a job at a living wage to every U.S. citizen who is willing to work. By essentially setting the national minimum living wage, a National Jobs Program would not compete with private sector employers for labor, but would rather put upward pressure on wages encouraging domestic and multinational corporations to pay a living wage (something they will NEVER do if left to their own devices). This program would create millions of jobs and vastly increase the GDP of the U.S. while setting the national minimum wage at a wage that enables people to provide for themselves and their families. Possibly, this program could de-stigmatize the NeoLiberal and Conservative aversion to social spending by using a job (private or through the Natl Jobs Program for those able to work) as a primary means of access to the welfare state; increasing the popularity of social spending in all demographics. Removing the divisive stigma and purposefully stoked dishonesty around social spending should appeal to folks of ALL political stripes and hopefully lead to a basis of humanitarian living standards for all citizens of the U.S.
