U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service: Stop the proposal to list four macaw parrot species as legally endangered
This is a misguided proposal that restricts interstate commerce of parrots in the United States and that will negatively affect captive and wild populations. The Hyacinth, Great Green, Military and Scarlet Macaws are at issue. The American Federation of Aviculture does not support this proposal, citing it is not based on current scientific data and will do nothing to stop smuggling and illegal importation of these exotic animals into the U.S at the same time it will suppress successful and critically important domestic breeding operations.

Please stop the proposal to list four macaw parrot species as legally endangered. Please seriously consider the response in opposition by the American Federation of Aviculture that outlines how the proposed legislation will actually have the opposite its intended effect by harming captive and wild populations of these species.
