Save Pennsylvania Catfish

Over the last several years Pennsylvania Catfish has grown into a sport fish with tremendous numbers of recreational and tournament fishing. Pennsylvania currently has a 50 fish limit per day with no size restrictions !! We would like to change the limits and size restrictions so we and our children can continue to catch trophy fish in the State of Pennsylvania for years to come. If no new regulations are set the Susquehanna river and other rivers through out the state will be depleted of these trophy gamefish. Here is the proposal.

We members of The Pennsylvania Catfish Advocates are requesting the following rule changes be made to the Pennsylvania Fishing Regulations:

Title 58 PA code 61.1. - Commonwealth Inland Waters

Flathead Catfish and Channel Catfish be removed from the 50 per day limit category.

Flathead Catfish and Channel Catfish - limits be changed to 6 a day combined species.

Flathead Catfish and Channel Catfish - one over 35inches a day.

Title 58 PA Code 69.12. seasons, sizes and creel limits—Lake Erie, Lake Erie tributaries and Presque Isle Bay including peninsula waters

Flathead Catfish and Channel Catfish be removed from the 50 per day limit category.

Flathead Catfish and Channel Catfish - limits be changed to 6 a day combined species.

Flathead Catfish and Channel Catfish - one over 35inches a day.

Title 58 PA Code 69.33 Use of commercial trap nets.

Channel catfish be removed from this type of harvest method.

Sincerely yours,

The Pennsylvania Catfish Advocates
