Homelessness is an issue that affects many people in our state. There are a variety of reasons how one can become homeless. These reasons can include people that are not employed or even the economy. This causes people to not have money and not be able to afford food or shelter to help them survive. Many people may simply know a homeless person as a person that does not own any housing and simply sleeps on the streets. Another reason for homelessness is that individuals have lost touch with family, or they may not have a family that is aware of their situation. Sadly, In 2013, the U.S. concluded that there were around 610,000 homeless people in the country itself. This is how many people in the world don’t have a job, don’t have family, or don’t have shelter available to them.
I am starting this petition to ask for more homeless shelters to be built especially for our local teens out on the street. We are a state that has lots of revenue brought in by gambling.Maybe they state can dedicate more funds to build housing for the homeless. Many homeless people complain that even when there is room for them they shelters are not safe. They have had their personal belongings stolen. Many women don't feel safe at night sleeping in a shelter. Maybe funds can be dedicated to security also. Last year at my school I know that there was at least one homeless teen: this is a sad situation so please sign my petition asking for more money being dedicated to solving the homeless crisis in Nevada. The weather is changing and it's going to be cold really soon.
