Yet another bloodbath, this time with 20 children slaughtered in their elementary school. Let's use this tragedy as an opportunity to rise up, demand change, and finally pass some sensible gun control measures. The Second Amendment is not absolute; reasonable regulations are constitutional and must be enacted. No one needs a semi-automatic weapon for self-protection or hunting; no one's rights are infringed if a background check is required before they can buy a gun. These measures are basic and should not be controversial. They are not enough, but they are a start.
Email, call, write a letter, do whatever you can to contact your Senators and Representatives and let them know that the NRA is not the only one watching their actions. We, too, are watching, and will support legislators with the courage to vote in favor of sensible gun regulations -- and against those who do not.
Please pass this along to your friends, families, and colleagues in red states, blue states, and purple states, small towns, big cities, and suburbs. The silent majority must make our voices heard.
