U.S. Congress: Please Don't Make Any Policy Against Bangladeshi-American
This petition had 95 supporters
I join the Bangladeshi-American community in condemning terrorism against the United States of America, and request members of Congress not to make any policy changes against Bangladeshis living in the United States or in Bangladesh.
More than 100,000 people of Bangladeshi origin live in the United States. Most abide by the laws of this great nation and live peacefully. Most are committed to a safe and prosperous America. They come to the United States to seek a better life and to build homes and businesses. For some famous examples, Bangladeshi-American Fazlur Khan designed the Sears Tower, Jawed Karim co-founded YouTube, and Salman Khan established Khanacademy.org.
Although Bangadeshi-Americans Mohammed M. Hossain, Ehsanul Sadequee and Rezwan Ferdaus were previously convicted of terrorism, and although Bangladeshi Quazi M. Nafis is now accused of terrorism, it would be unfair for the entire Bangladeshi community to suffer a change in government policy just because of a few individuals. As you make policy, please be mindful that most Bangladeshis are peaceful people.
