On July 19, 2015, University of Cincinnati police officer Raymond Tensing pulled 43-year-old Samuel DuBose over for allegedly driving without a license plate on the front of his car.

When DuBose failed to provide his driver’s license, Officer Tensing became agitated, and attempted to enter DuBose’s vehicle. DuBose, alarmed, grappled with his driver’s side door, trying to keep it shut. DuBose's car then seemed to slowly roll forward as the two struggled with the door. Officer Tensing reacts by reaching through DuBose’s window, grabbing at the man’s clothes, shooting him seconds later, point blank, directly in the head. As a result, DuBose's corpse fell limp onto the gas pedal, and his car accelerated forward into a telephone pole at the end of the street. In court, Officer tensing claimed that his arm got caught in the steering wheel and he was dragged along with the vehicle, but video evidence disproves this account.

It was later revealed that, the day Officer Tensing killed DuBose, he was wearing a Confederate Flag shirt under his uniform. Despite the shocking nature of this evidence, however, it was quickly thrown out in court.

Although Officer Tensing was initially indicted and fired, in a retrial, he was subsequently acquitted, released, and awarded a settlement of nearly $350,000 for “unfair dismissal” from his previous employer.

Given the overwhelming body of evidence, it's clear that justice was never served.

Please sign this petition to demand that U.S. Attorney David DeVillers bring federal charges against Raymond Tensing for violating Samuel DuBose's civil rights.
