The Army Corps of Engineers, (Philadelphia District), in Partnership with the Delaware River Basin Commission and The New York City Department of Environmental Protection have initiated a Feasibility Study to reevaluate the Francis E Walter Dam and Reservoir to Identify future demands within the region. The result could devastatingly effect the Economic & Recreational Welfare of The Pocono Region of Pennsylvania. One of the Reasons for this study is to Supply Drinking Water to New York City. NYC currently is supplied from the Catskill/Delaware Systems. Why do they need water from our Region.

The changes will have a direct impact on the Recreational & Economic Welfare of our Region. The flow of the river will directly impact the 39 Billion Dollar Tourism Industry as well as well as the 35,000 jobs tied into the industry. The Francis E Walter Dam has been responsible for 250 Million Dollars in Preventative Flood Damages since the 60s.

A Public Meeting will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday January 9, 2020 at The Mt. Laurel Resort. Please get to the Meeting to voice your concerns. If you cannot attend please write a Letter or Email. The Physical Address is USACE Philadelphia, Planning Division 100 Penn Square E. Philedelphia, Pa 19107 or Email PDPA-NAP@usace.army.mil...At the very least Please Sign the Petition.
