New York City Transit Employees who are represented by TWU Local 100  At the "MTA" Suffered some of the most severe consequences of the COVID-19 Pandemic. With over 160 deaths and counting, and with almost 8000 Employees out at one single time when our country became ravaged by Covid-19 in early February 2020.

As a byproduct of this horrible pandemic many of the "Union Members" were fighting for their lives and their respective livelihoods. As a direct result from falling "ill" many members exhausted their available sick time and were forced to go without a paycheck for weeks and in many cases, up to a year. 

As if the consequences of not having a paycheck for an extended period of time and suffering from the effects of covid-19 weren't enough to deal with , members who didn't get paid or had a discrepancy in their pay also suffered a lapse in their union Dues as well, which are automatically deducted from their paycheck. These members were just informed that the Union has designated them as members in "BAD STANDING" and as a result of this designation they are ineligible from running for an elected position or even having the ability to Vote.

The Union has filed and has been granted a 2.8 million Dollar PPP Loan from the Government to Address the Locals financial hardships while at the same time, taken a "tragedy" and  transformed it into an opportunity to disenfranchise  members from the democratic process  which is the cornerstone of unionism and American Ideals. "Senator Chuck Schumer" made no mistake when he identified the 41,000 members of TWU Local 100 as "American Heroes" Now its time for our Union to make good on our local wide pledge that states:

"AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN  INJURY TO ALL"

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PETITION IS TO DEMAND THAT THE UNION GIVES IT'S MEMBERS AN EXONERATION OF MEMBERSHIP DUES WHICH ARE OWED DUE TO THE UNPRECEDENTED NATURE OF THE PANDEMIC AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE THOSE BROTHERS-AND-SISTERS AS "MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING" RETROACTIVE TO JANUARY OF 2020.
