Why this petition matters

Started by The Rock Fairy

We’ve all had one, that photo of a bloke’s bits that appears in our inboxes.  After being subjected to this for months, I realised enough was enough and outed one gentleman (I used that term loosely) on Twitter.  On looking at this chap’s profile, it was apparent that this was a regular thing he did.  I went to report his profile and saw that there is no option on Twitter to report unsolicited sexual images, or even sexual harassment.   The closest option available is “their tweets are abusive or hateful”. Yet I know tons of people who have received these types of photos - not just from this chap but others too.  Over 50 people have reported this person yet his profile still remains active and he’s still doing it.  How many others are there?

Social media should be a safe space to socialise with people, not to receive a bloke’s junk in our inboxes.  Anyone caught and reported for doing this should be instantly banned from the platform.  It’s not acceptable to walk up to someone in the street and flash at them, it shouldn’t be acceptable on social media either.  We need social media platforms to work harder on cultivating a safe space for us to be social.  This is why I’m calling for instant bans for this.
