Over the past year or so, Twitter has reported or suspended thousands of Twitter users including fan accounts, news sources, and just regular people for posting audios of music recordings. They go as far as digging up tweets from YEARS ago and after a certain amount of reports, your account is done for. This is all because Twitter refuses to license music. A music license allows users to post videos containing audios of music as well as covers. Artists and record labels deserve to be compensated for their work more than ever. Rather than purchasing this license, they have a system to report and suspend account. I’m tired of the countless back and forth emails arguing with Twitter and panicking at the sight of a notification from Twitter Support. It’s time for Twitter to license music and make Twitter a carefree platform where users don’t have to limit the kind of content they post.
