Posts on Twitter about LA issues around the unhoused, abuse by police, and other related topics are often dogpiled by illegitimate sock puppet / spambot accounts making derogatory and hateful remarks and pretending to be residents. These accounts are part of a coordinated effort which, based on their consistent focus and responsiveness, seems to be funded / organized by LA police and real estate lobbyist groups.

These illegitimate accounts can be easily identified by their names, which tend to follow the pattern "FirstnameBunchaNumbers", by the fact that they are almost only followed and liked/retweeted by similarly illegitimate accounts, by their stolen / AI generated images, and "edgy" dog whistle memes.

Even City Council members are not safe from this constant harassment. Look at the replies on this post as an example:

Please investigate and end this illegal harassment and willful pollution of public discussion by monied lobbyist groups. Operations of this scale cannot be addressed by reporting on an individual level because there are too many accounts. It is clearly a well funded operation.
