For those of you that missed my stream, here’s a summary and explanation on why I’ve been gone for a week TRIGGER WARNING for physical assault and violence: Long story short, tensions in the Gao household had and have been increasing for months. The main conflict between me and my parents has always been the issue of my health. For years now, my parents have always tried controlling every little part of my life, including my sleep, diet, exercise, and lifestyle, in the hopes that I will be happy and healthy, and grow a couple more inches (height is an extremely important value in Chinese culture, and my parents are obsessed with me and my sister growing as tall as possible). After my Serki birthday stream on May 16, when I had followed the recipe to bake the vanilla cake instead of following my mom’s desire to cut out the sugar in the recipe, coupled with me staying up a bit later than usual the previous day, I was kicked out of the house, where I stayed at Ryan’s house for the night. After that night, there was a period of negotiating and communicating with my parents, wherapon an agreement was made that was fair in both of our eyes: Depending on how early I slept and for how long I slept, I would be able to stream a proportional amount of time (for example, if I slept before 1 and woke up before 9, I’d be able to stream for 2 hours). For weeks, I had tried my best to follow as strict a sleeping regiment as I could. As time went on, seemingly, our interfamilial conflict had died down a bit, and the relationship between my parents seemed to be strengthening and returning to normal. I thought I was in the clear, and that we had found some kind of balance between me following my parents’ rules and me having my own independence.

[8:10 PM]On the night of June 27 (if you’ll remember, that was my 1000 follower celebration stream where I had “Serki” shaved into the side of my head, I love you @Serkian) however, things blew up. During and especially after my stream, my mother commented on how hot my room was (I have the bedroom in the corner of the house on the second story, plus I usually have my door closed for streaming and my computer runs hot, so the temperature is much warmer than the rest of the house). I was not aware that during the stream, my dad had turned off the AC, so I had the windows closed at the time. She was insistent that my room was too hot and that I was boiling myself alive, and both our tempers were short that day, so we got very heated (no pun intended) about the temperature of the room. After a bit of petty arguing, I opened my windows and turned off my computer to let my room cool down. At this point however, months of tensions had been rising up, and they finally broke. My mother was not satisfied with my attitude, and, combined with the culmination of months of conflict, she continued shouting at me. As we continued arguing, my dad got involved too, and out of frustration and anger, both of them told me I would have 3 hours to pack up all of my stuff and leave the house. I managed to keep my cool, do a bit of Googling, and told them that they would need to give me a written notice of 30-60 days before they could officially kick me out of the house.(edited)

[8:10 PM]I then proceeded to sit down and start eating my dinner. However, my father was fed up with me, slapped the chopsticks out of my hand, and started attacking me. We wrestled in the kitchen for about a minute, where we managed to knock over Skyla (my dog)’s water bowl, and he grabbed onto my hair and stuck his thumb into my mouth. Finally, my mother managed to get us separated, where I then walked out to my backyard and called the police. Meanwhile, my dad went upstairs to my room and started to destroy my computer (luckily, he only managed to pull out a few wires and did not destroy any of the expensive components). Thankfully, neither of us had any injuries that would require medical attention. When the police arrived and I explained the situation to them, they notified my parents that, indeed, they would need to give a written eviction notice before being able to kick me out of the house, and that also, physical assault of any kind is not allowed. Since no one required medical attention, they did not file any report, and, after making sure that everyone understood everything and that there would be no further conflict, they left. No longer feeling safe in my own home, I called Ryan immediately, and started packing up some of my belongings. I have since then been living with Ryan’s family in their garage (which I am eternally grateful for), and this is where I am now! After a week, I have finally managed to get my computer fixed, and, after figuring out how to get WiFi in the garage, I plan on resuming streaming every day like I used to!
[8:10 PM]Since June 27, I have gotten lunch with my mother once, and we are working on repairing our family’s relationship and coming to some kind of diplomacy and situation that works for all parties involved. In the meantime, I will continue to stream, look for jobs, and start preparing for the process of independence that I will eventually need to take. I apologize for the delay in streaming, and I am extremely thankful for all the support that I’ve been shown, both online, and also in real life, during this time in my life. Even though I am undergoing the toughest chapter in my life so far, I have the largest support system that I’ve ever had. Thank you all so much for sticking with me and supporting me. I will be sure to keep you all updated as more information arises, and I definitely don’t plan on stopping streaming any time soon! Only more fun content in the future. I’m SO excited to be back, and I hope you all are too. Thanks for reading, and once again, thanks for all the support. I love you all
